Epithelioid Mesothelioma

Epithelioid Mesothelioma is a form of mesothelioma cancer which affects the epithelioid cells. An epithelioid cell is a mesenchymal cell whose morphology resembles that of epithelial cells.

Epithelioid Mesothelioma is the base name for the three main types of mesothelioma cancer, Pleural, Peritoneal and Pericardial mesothelioma.

Epithelial mesothelioma is a rare and deadly form of cancer affects the membrane lining the chest cavity, heart, lungs and abdominal cavity.

The most common type of these cancers is Pleural Mesothelioma (affecting the inner lining of the lungs)  which affects around 70% give or take while Peritoneal Mesothelioma (abdominal mesothelioma) which affects around 30% give or take, and finally Pericardial Mesothelioma (affecting the heart area) which only consists of 5% of those afflicted with this disease.
